The Gorpcore name comes from the colloquial expression for a trail mix, "good ol' raisins and peanuts". It is a style that focuses on practicality, functionality and outdoor inspired style. The term originated in "The Cut" magazine when one of the journalists used Gorpcore to describe the growing trend he was seeing in the fashion industry.
The style has gathered momentum over the past few years and one of those who has helped make it popular is the artist Frank Ocean. He is known for dressing in various outdoor brands and at the Louis Vuitton show in Paris 2019, he arrived in an orange Mammut puffer jacket.
